Brentwood Arts Festival Café
Brentwood Theatre will be hosting a coffee bar for the duration of the Brentwood Arts Festival, when you have an opportunity to purchase tickets for many of the events around the Borough, not just those being performed at the Theatre.
Running Monday to Friday, 30 June to 11 July from 10am to 4pm, the volunteer-led coffee bar will serve hot and cold drinks and different treats from day to day, all reasonably priced. Artwork from Russell Newton (also on display in the adjacent Hermitage too) together with the competition entries from local students who have designed the artwork for its Christmas show, Danny the Champion of the World.
The winning design, chosen by the ‘Danny’ production team, was drawn by Sophia Houston, 14, who said,
“I was really excited when I learnt that my artwork had won and that it would be turned into the show poster. I am looking forward to seeing the final design.”
Sophia’s teacher, Michelle Parsons, said,
“This was a really fun yet educational project to be a part of. In class, we looked at the original artwork, including designs prepared by the original artist Jill Bennett. We also read the story and decided that we should be looking at child-like imagery. The pupils drew their outlines in black pen and then used computer technology to colour them.”
The booking fee, regardless of the number of tickets purchased, is just one pound, or FREE if you pay by cash.
